Healthy Recipes: Grated Apple Pie

Grandmother’s apple pie – everyone knows it and everyone loves it. It is particularly popular in autumn and at Christmas time. It is not only a real treat for the palate as a dessert, but also very popular as a souvenir when you are invited to dinner.


  • 10 apples
  • 200g raisins
  • 80g grated almonds
  • 30g rice malt
  • Cinnamon powder

Ingredients dough

  • 400g spelled flour
  • 1 pack of yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 5 tbsp olive oil
  • 300ml water

Step 1
First, prepare the dough so that it can still rise. To do this, add all the ingredients to a bowl and knead them into a dough. Cover it with a tea towel and set it aside in a warm place – until it has visibly enlarged.

  • Tip: Place the covered dough in the warmed-up oven – with top / bottom heat: 50 ° C – until it has visibly enlarged. Hold the oven door open with a wooden spoon so that the dough does not get too warm.

In the meantime, you can grate the apples.

Mix the grated apples and any remaining ingredients in a large bowl.

When the dough has risen, spread it out on the baking sheet. To make the base airy, you should pierce the dough several times with a fork.

Now spread everything on the spelled cake batter and put the whole thing in the oven for 40 minutes at 175 degrees / convection – medium setting.

Cut the cake into pieces of your choice. We recommend a vanilla soy dessert for serving.
